Heavenly Babes

For anyone who has or is grieving the pain of losing a baby:
Special for a friend ~ Jan. 21, 2012

Perfect little feet, never to walk this ground,
God has something better for you,
A walk through his garden,
Where sunshine will kiss your
Perfect little head, never to feel the rain.
God has something better for you,
A crown of golden lilies to brighten your
Perfect little eyes, never to look on pain
God has something better for you,
A scene of paradise
Where they will never have to cry.

How I ache to kiss your
Perfect little lips, never to frown
God has something better for you,
A sun ignited by your smiles.
My lips cry out just to whisper in your
Perfect little ears, never to hear a worry.
God has something better for you,
To hear his gentle voice tell you what I long to say,
Oh, how I love you.

Perfect little fingers, never to feel despair,
God has something better for you,
A palace of glorious music
Where you will dance with Him, hand in hand.
I will never get to hear
Your perfect little voice, never to shout in anguish
God has something better for you,
A free and open haven
To sing with delight of His great love.

Perfect little heart, never to ache or break,
God has something better for you,
Guarded and strong,
Warm with glee and joy.

Perfect little you, never to be in my arms,
Always to be held by our Abba.
Perfect little love, never to endure this imperfect world,
God has something better for you,
I’m trying hard to remember that in all my longing for you,
God has the best thing for me just to know that
You are in the best place there can be.

Salt Dough Ornaments

This writing blog is turning much more into a crafty blog, but since my introduction to Pinterest, I just can't help sharing all the fun things I've been making. =)

I made a whole bunch of these little salt dough ornaments and tucked them away for future gifts.  This one I used to decorate Amy's shower gift for little baby Hannah Joy.  I used acrylic craft paint to make it pink, and a toothpick to etch the "h".  You could also use rubber stamps to imprint on them before they dry out.

Salt Dough:

1 cup flour
1/2 cup table salt
1/2 cup warm water

Just mix it up in a bowl 'til its nice and smooth.  Then, roll it out, stamp it (if desired) and cut into shapes! I used a toothpick to make the holes, but you could also use a straw.  Put them in a barely warm oven (150 to 200 degrees) until their dried out. I literally popped them in the oven then proceeded to wash the dishes, organize the mud room, clean the bathroom, and start the laundry before I pulled them out again... You just want them to harden.  I put them all in a little container to give out throughout the year (probably most at Christmas next year).
